"The chook feeder is fabulous! It is a "must have" for all chicken owners. I live by a river. I did not realize large rats swam in rivers until I purchased birds. The food attracted the rats. The traps I purchased were too small for these rats - ugh. Then I purchased live squirrel traps and trapped over 40 disgusting rodents. I am a city girl so this was not much fun for me. I was online nightly trying to find a way to get rid of these rodents. That is when I found the website for Grandpa’s Feeders. Without hesitation, I ordered. Within a week (about the time it took for my Penedescencas and French Marans to figure it out), the rodents were no more. My traps sit empty day after day. I am so happy with my chook feeder! It is a phenomenal product. Built well, and well worth the price. This product is Eggzactly what your birds need. No longer do rodents ruffle my feathers. (Sorry for the chicken pun)." - GayLynn - Idaho
"I am now in a position to give you a review of your product having used it (my chooks that is) for a few weeks now. It was easier to train them to use the feeder than I anticipated, knowing how skittish the chooks were when I got them. They have now settled in well, and as I am away a few days each week, I'm confident they will never starve and the weather will not affect the quality of the feed. Thanks a million for a great product - worth every cent it cost." - Donald McLeish - Victoria, Australia
"I recently purchased a Grandpas Feeder and must admit that I was not really certain as to how successful it would be. Thought the cost was a little expensive but we had such a rat problem I was desperate to try something! The feeder is great! We no longer have a rat problem and there is no seed waste. I will be recommending it to our friends who also have poultry and are living on an acreage." - Alison Salinger - Rosenberg, Texas
"What a winner. Our chickens are laying better than they ever had, the rodents have disappeared and there's a lot of disappointed and hungry wild birds about. After the years of thieving they've had at my expense I'm not shedding any tears for them!" - Charles Neumann - Logansport, Indiana
"I bought a feeder online and within three days I had it on my doorstep. That day I started using it. I followed the instructions and within three weeks I was only feeding my chickens. I then found rat droppings all over the top of the feeder. Within one night I caught four rats. In all I was feeding 7 rats (that I know of) and 6 mice not to mention all the little birds and pigeons. Now I am saving on feed (one bag of feed is now lasting three times longer) and I guess my chickens are healthier for it (no droppings in their feed). Thank you. " - Naomi - Tuscaloosa AL
"We love our Grandpa feeder and have cut our feed bill by half as we are no longer feeding hundreds of birds and worst still rats and mice." - Moira and Neil Landford - Queensland, Australia
"Hi, I just wanted to say the feeder is working like a charm. The training really was very simple and the dove problem is solved! Aloha!" - Stephen Terry - Kanehoe, Hawaii
"I thought I'd send you a quick note because I'm so pleased I bought one of your large feeders. I had no idea I was losing so much feed to the wild birds until I set it up and the girls started using it!" - Jane Norswick - Ventura CA
"I put my feeder in the yard and after a few minutes of initial wariness they started eating out of it and haven't looked back. I actually cut the training period a bit as I'm going away for a few days and I wanted them using it in the automatic position before I went. It worked a treat and I'm very happy that I can leave them knowing they will have food on demand without the pests grabbing it in short time. " - Sandy Phillips - Camden, Arkansas
"I was pleasantly surprised at what a well made unit this is and how quickly it arrived after ordering. Great service. Thanks!" - Jenny Terrensos - Baytown, Texas
"Fantastic product, we love it! Because of the rats and wild birds I couldn't leave any food out for the chickens if we went away but thanks to your feeder they don't get a look in any more. Now I don't have to arrange for our son to come and feed them if we're away not to mention the saving in feed we're making. All the best!" - Pete and Louise Altrop - Dublin, Georgia
"Wow! What a saving in the cost of feed! I am astounded that for all the years I've kept poultry I never realized how much feed was going to the bad guys. This is an amazing product and it will pay for itself in no time. I'm crowing to everyone I know with chickens that they have to get one and I'll be ordering another soon for my sisters birthday." - Leslie Pentergrass - Albany, Oregon
"We're getting a much longer laying season since we've bought a Grandpas feeder and I'm not sure whether this is coincidence or not. Do you get similar comments? Regardless, this is the best thing we've bought in a long time. What a lot of frustration and money it's saved. Thank you." - Daniel and Tammy - Rocky Mount, Nth Carolina
"Yabah dabah doo! What else can I say. Instant sanity! It works brilliantly and I'm no longer feeding all the free loading wild birds which were driving me nuts." - Jimmy - Riverside, CA
"I've been watching it closely since we set it up and was worried that our flock and their bird brains wouldn't work out how to use it. However, they started using it without fuss or problems and nothing else can get at the feed. What a fantastic machine." - Dudley Mitchell - Concord NH
"Thanks for the entertainment as well as the saving in food costs. We put our Grandpas Feeder in view of the house and quite a way from our chicken house so we could see what's happening and it's been entertaining watching as our hens come running when they want a top up, leap on the feeder and then dash back to their friends. We absolutely love it." - Marjorie Anderson - Decatur, Alabama
"Wow. What a terrific feeder and I'm recommending it to all I know. Thanks so much." - Andy Santarage - Denver
"We have cut our feed bill in half. Should have bought one last year when we first heard of it but procrastinated as usual." - Carl Beasley - Glasgow, Kentucky
"I've never thanked a company for something I've bought before but your feeder is special. The benefits you promised all happened and we've dramatically lowered the amount of feed we buy. It's built well and I can see it's going to last us a very long time. What an outstanding product!" - Thomas Rankin - Jacksonville, Nth Carolina
"You can add me to the satisfied customers list. Our girls must be slow learners but they finally got it. It was even better to watch a mouse climb all over the feeder and not be able to get into it. At last they were hungry enough to take bait from the mouse traps and I caught about 6 in two days. The doves have gone but one extra cheeky one managed to get caught inside the feeder on one occasion. So thank you." - Naomi Bagas - Topeka, Kansas
"I have used a Grandpa's Feeder for nearly two years now. I am astounded by how efficiently it works. It has cut our layer pellet bill in half, and eliminated mice and birds eating any chook feed." - Alan Gray - Editor, 'Earth Garden' magazine and books - Australia
"Just thought I would let you know I am very happy with the feeder. It took a little longer to train some of our chooks (our Chinese Langshangs are very timid compared to our Isa Browns) The amount of food we are saving directly because the rats, mice, pigeons and sparrows can no longer get a free meal is staggering, it is already immediately obvious that probably 75% of the food was being consumed by rodents and pests before the feeder arrived. A couple of our girls (Barbarella and Henrietta) picked it up straight away and the others followed later. Definitely a good investment that I am sure will pay for itself in no time at all. Thanks again. I am glad I found you guys on the net." - Terry Anderson - Australia
"My name is Chris Scholz and I have one of the largest collections of Large Faverolles in Australia with all recognised colours being bred and several old colours being revived. This means that at breeding season time anywhere up to 15 pens can be used. A lot feeding as well! Your feeders have proved invaluable in this program. The sparrow population are very unimpressed and their numbers have reduced dramatically. The other very important benefit is the reduction in rats and mice. Hardly any sign of them at all. The reduction in all these vermin has had a two-fold-affect reduced feed costs and healthier birds. I am currently using 11 of your feeders with great success. The birds adapt to them very quickly. I have no hesitation in recommending these well built, robust feeders to all poultry enthusiasts. They save time and money whilst improving the health and conditions of your birds." - Chris Scholz "Kashmir Poultry Stud" - Australia
"Thanks for the feeder. It is fantastic. We are now just feeding our chickens and not the dozens of pigeons that were hanging out at our place. Cheers." - Alison and Jake Biram - Newport Victoria, Australia
"Your product has been so marvellous I am more than happy to help endorse it. I live in the middle of NSW and have silos all around my house. We experience mouse plagues on a fairly regular basis and this product saves me so much in both hygiene and money. Thank you again." - Sue Hewitt - Nyngan, NSW, Australia
"Just thought I would let you know how pleased we are with the chicken feeder. Our chickens are using it beautifully and the sparrows have to look elsewhere for a feed. I would happily recommend it to anyone!" - Glenda Haigh - Cosgrove South, Victoria, Australia
"Our family was lucky enough to win a Grandpas Feeder in the Weekly Times competition earlier this year. We were inspired to renovate our old chicken shed so that the building and run matched the professional appearance of the Feeder. Now we have everything installed and working beautifully and we are finding that our feed use has reduced by AT LEAST 75%. We feed organic feed so that adds up to quite a saving. No more megaflocks of India Mynahs! Thank you very much for providing the Feeder, we would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone." - Marina Stewart - Victoria, Australia
"An outstanding product ... I am only using a third of the food I used to and have stopped feeding the local wild bird population." - Peter - South Australia
"We just wanted to give you some feedback on our chicken feeder. It is the BEST thing. We are now back to feeding our 7 chickens instead of a thousand Indian mynahs. " - Kerri & Geoff Sanderson, Tyers - Victoria, Australia
"I purchased your chicken feeder last year. What a great invention and the best purchase I have made in a long time. Saves time, effort and money. The hens had no trouble working it out. Our chicken house had over a metre of water flowing though it in the May flood, it was simple to fill the feeder and move it and the hens to the high straddle, we did not have to worry about them until the water receded 4 days later. Cheers" - Di Ensbey - Lawrence. NSW, Australia
"Not sure if you remember me buying a large feeder from you a couple of months ago, and I asked if it would work with Muscovies. It does! I have two large drakes (bordering on 'mammoth', whatever exactly that means!) currently using it, NO problems, with NO alterations needed! It is so cute to see a 5kg drake put his foot on the platform to lift it. He only needs to put one foot on it. I have photos on my phone (it was the best I could do!) - are you interested in seeing them? Just thought I'd let you know. I figure if it works with 'the boys' it will work with the girls too, who are half the size!!! I recently put some fresh feed in. Sunflower seeds are still whole (not ripped to shreds from mice), no bird manure IN the feed, and the most that gets in it is earwigs - which are simply high protein feed for the boys! They now go through so little feed I wonder if they even eat, but I have the photo to prove it!" - Sarah Greenslade - Adelaide, Australia
"What a great product, I had problems like everyone, feeding every thing but the chickens. I set it up straight away and followed instructions (very easy). The chickens and I are more than pleased with the feeder. Really saves on the food bill already. Love watching them hoping on and off and the lid going up and down doesn't bother the chickens. Thanks for a great invention. I don't think it is expensive when in maybe round 9 -12 months if not less time it will have paid for itself. Great Thanks." - Sharyn Pearse - Victor Harbour, South Australia
"I have been frustrated for years feeding my local bird population and getting the associated bird lice problems that come with wild birds. Not only do we lose probably half of our feed to wild birds, it takes months for the chickens to start laying again after lice infestations. Your feeder has solved this problem." - Darrell Young - Narrabeen, NSW, Australia
"I thought you might be interested to know that we are very pleased with the new feeder. There is certainly a saving in the amount of food purchased as we are no longer feeding the sparrows. My two new Pekins were to first to ‘hop aboard’ but the oldies soon learnt which means you can teach an oldie new tricks!" - Henkrick and Lynnette Van Kerkwyk - Australia
"Dear Grandpa's Chicken Feeders, A note to let you know how pleased I am with my "chicken Feeder". I bought two from you earlier this year - one for me and one for my daughter. I must admit it took a couple of days for the chickens to work it out. I propped the feeder open while they watched me filling it. We've all had a lot of pleasure watching the big rooster putting one foot on the platform and "calling" his girls. I now feel free to leave home for a couple of days knowing the chickens are well fed (and the mice are starved). Thanking you for such a great invention (and thank Grandpa too)." - Daphue Matthew - Brookton, Australia
"Wonderful feeder, stops rats and birds eating the food. The hens learned to use it in 3 days. I really recommend it." - G.C. Mansfield - United Kingdom
"We are delighted with the large Grandpa’s Feeder. Our feed is lasting 3x as long, the local rat population has disappeared & they only need feeding/filling every week or so. After the initial training it was all happiness and fat chickens. Thanks for your fantastic device." - Dr G. Suffolk - United Kingdom
"I am very pleased with my Grandpa’s Feeder and am ordering two more. The food saving is nearly 50% by preventing wild bird population." - Mrs J Spooner - Brighton, United Kingdom
"Grandpa’s Feeder was the perfect solution to our ever increasing Rat population. Without it we would have definitely had to get rid of our girls. It’s very easy to train the Chickens to use it and now their food goes a lot further as we no longer feed half the Wild Life in our area. It’s a money-saver & has paid for itself already." - Natalie.S. Trinity - Jersey, United Kingdom
"Grandpa’s Feeders Are Great. No Rats-Wild Birds Or Wet Food. But Very Happy Chickens, Ducks And Owners. Thank You." - Mrs. Dodderidge - Cornwall, United Kingdom

"Great invention. Very easy for chickens to use." - G.D. Pembrokeshire - United Kingdom
"What a great invention! Hassle free feeding for the chooks and no more free food for the squirrels. Highly recommended." - Miss Heath - Oxfordshire, United Kingdom
"I am absolutely delighted with Grandpa’s Feeder. An ingenious piece of equipment. Dry, ad lib, rodent free hen food. I fill once a week for 20 hens, brilliant." - J.Gibson - Wigton Cumbria, United Kingdom
"I am so impressed with the Grandpa’s Feeder. The amount of feed I save is enormous. I have two separate locations for my hens on my property and they are about 500 metres apart. One house has a Grandpa’s Feeder that feeds 6 hens, 6 bantams, and 4-6 pheasants, yes even the pheasants have learnt to open the feeder, the house is open door and ad lib feeding. At the other hen house I feed 6 hens twice a day in an open feed trough. It’s very obvious by the amount of feed I use at this hen house, feeding fewer hens and using 2 bags of feed to one bag of feed where I have a Grandpa’s Feeder. The saving in feed is huge." - Dan Magill - Reparoa, New Zealand
"Hi There. We’d like another large Grandpa’s Feeder please. These things are the best ever. Thanks and kind regards." - Sue-Ellen Wilson - Palmerston North, New Zealand
"Dear Folks. Just to let you know the chook feeder is working a charm. It was three weeks before all the girls clicked up the courage to stand on the platform. I glued a strip of foam plastic under the lid to stop the clatter and that helped. The birds have migrated to another welfare state and I am amazed at just how much feed they consumed. Have only 6 hens and all laying well despite the heat. Cheery Regards." - J.Somerville - Rangiahua Wairoa, New Zealand
"I bought a feeder from you two months ago. My chooks now eat half or less food and the rats that were sharing the food have left. My calculation is that I am saving a dollar a day. The payback is very quick for only 8 hens. Thanks for this great device." - Andrew Weinert - Busselton, Western Australia
"Dear Grandpas Feeders, I have recently Purchased my fourth 'Grandpa's Feeder' and can highly reccommend them to anyone with poultry. I have two 'Grandpa's Feeders' in the Chook pen to feed twenty five chooks and also have one in the Rooster pen for my Purebred Roosters. I have just recently purchased my fourth feeder to put in an extra pen for breeding pairs, so thank you 'Grandpa's Feeders' for a great product and money well spent. I have saved so much money on food for my poultry because I haven't got any unwelcome birds & rodents eating the food." - Colleen Crowden - Tasmania, Australia
"Please see enclosed photo of very happy chickens, they no longer have to compete with upwards of 30 crows for their food, (There is a large Rookery in the next field to us). The unit is a total success; the Chickens were trained in less than 2 weeks. Because of its success we have easily reduced our feed bills by 70%. You certainly have a unique product that clearly does what it claims." - John Haughton - Dublin, Republic of Ireland
"Great feeder, had second thoughts about the price initially, but now I am absolutely convinced this is the best feeder on the market. Chickens happy, me happy, wildlife & mice very un-happy...." - John Mangan - Melbourne, Australia
"I highly recommend these feeders to anyone who has a chook or two or three or four or more! They stop mice and rats from eating the feed, are easy to use and it takes very little effort to train the chooks to eat from it. Very weather proof and the chooks always have feed. A very well built product that soon pays for itself. Thanks Grandpa’s Feeders." - Andrew Thomas Preston - Queensland
"We have always used pheasant feeders for feeding our chickens in the past but have had problems with rats stealing food and the chickens dropping it everywhere.  However, we recently acquired an excellent new feeder from Grandpa's Feeders which seems to have solved our food wastage issues! See more photos. It is a metal feeder with a treadplate mechanism that means the chickens have to place some weight on a plate for it to open.  There is quite a good lip on the feeder which means that they can't hook out the feed and dump it on the floor as they like to do with normal feeders. This stops the local wild birds helping themselves and we've noticed a marked decrease in the rat activity in and around the pen. We weren't sure how easily our older birds would take to the treadplate system so we tested it out on the 1-year-old Barnevelder hens and Legba.  It did take a while but they got the hang of it after about a month thanks to the learning programme that came with the feeder. " - All About Chickens - United Kingdom
